Thien started training BJJ under the Gracie Barra team at The University of Nottingham and received his blue belt from Ben Poppleton. While studying in Nottingham, he also trained with Braulio Estima in Birmingham. After two years in Nottingham, Thien had the chance to train with the LondonShootfighters team, which helped him develop wrestling and no-Gi skills. Thien then joined the Carlson Gracie London team and was awarded the Purple belt by Wilson Junior. In 2008, Thien returned to Bangkok and continued his study of BJJ. Recently, he was awarded brown belt from Lee Livingstone. Apart from BJJ, Thien has an interest in different martial arts such as Boxing, Muay Thai, Judo and wrestling. Thien also has an interest in fitness training and holds a CrossFit Level 1 trainer certification.
